Puma was officially registered in October 1948 by Rudolph Dassler in Herzogenaurach, Germany. In 1952, Puma launched the "Super Atom", the world’s first football boot with screw in studs, marking the beginning of what was to become a successful football future. In 1958 the now iconic Puma "Formstrip" was introduced, originally to stabilise the foot in the shoe but now it is widely recognised as the Puma trademark on footwear. Over the years, Puma products have been worn by a range of different sporting legends including Armin Hary, Pele, Eusebio, Mary Peters, Walt 'Clyde' Frazier, Johan Cruyff, Guillermo Vilas, Diego Maradona, Boris Becker and Martina Navratilova. Modern day stars such as Sergio Aguero, Ricky Fowler and the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, also wear the brand’s products as well as international superstar, Rihanna, who also has her own Puma line.
